Fun facts about Penny Lane:

The song was originally released in 1967 by the Beatles as a double A-side single with Strawberry Fields Forever.

Penny Lane is a road in the south Liverpool suburb Mossley Hill, and also an area near a roundabout frequently visited by the Beatles growing up. Paul McCartney once said that Penny Lane “was really [about] a place that John and I knew…I’d get a bus to his house and I’d have to change at Penny Lane, or the same with him to me, so we often hung out at that terminus.”

This year, Rolling Stone ranked Penny Lane as one of the top 500 Greatest Songs of All Time.
